Eric Ishiwata (he/him), PhD, is an associate professor at Colorado State University in the Department of Ethnic Studies. He has worked with the Fort Morgan community for more than a decade to facilitate community-driven solutions to address community-identified needs. Key to these efforts is providing classes on the social determinants of health and community nonprofits to immigrant and asylee communities in the dominant language and culture of those communities. Through the CSU Office of Extension, he is working throughout rural areas in the state to implement this approach.
