Speaker Bio
Andrea (Dre) Chiriboga-Flor (she/her) has worked at 9to5 since moving to Denver in 2014. She was hired as a public transit organizer, which was her first paid organizer experience. Over the years, Dre has witnessed mobile home park closures in Westwood, alongside gentrification and displacement happening all around new transit light rail lines. Realizing support for these communities was deeply lacking, she began building up 9to5's housing justice infrastructure, eventually launching an unofficial mobile home helpline and the legal program, and co-founding the Colorado Homes for All coalition. In her new role, leading Justice for the People Legal Center, a fiscally sponsored legal project of 9to5, she will be working more closely with communities that want to form cooperatives, community land trusts and other forms of community ownership programs. The organization, which will eventually transition out of 9to5, will also offer legal and technical assistance and help form tenant and mobile home associations, especially around class action lawsuits and impact litigation.
