Mar Galvez Seminario (they/them) graduated summa cum laude from the University of Colorado Boulder, where they studied sociology and women and gender studies. Mar spent those years growing their passion for research, teaching and community organizing. As a researcher, they have written and published their work in academic journals such as “Feminist Studies” and “Politics, Groups, and Identities,” while maintaining a focus on community. As a teacher, their pedagogy seeks to dismantle power structures and preconceived notions of what is considered legitimate knowledge. They approach teaching/learning as an opportunity to co-create knowledge in community. Mar moved to Colorado from Peru at age 8 and now lives in Aurora. They are the legislative and research coordinator at Colorado Organization for Latina Opportunity and Reproductive Rights (COLOR).
