Description
This session will describe the process used by Clifton Community Leaders (CCL) to gather input from community residents. To ensure that the voice of the Spanish-speaking community was included, bilingual community leaders conducted more than 300 surveys and interviews in Spanish and English with Clifton residents of all ages, from 2020 to 2022, to determine their highest priorities for community change. Then, using the principles of equity-centered design, CCL worked with residents of the Clifton community to develop a playground that is equity-centered and community-created, with a comprehensive plan that includes the activation and long-term maintenance of the playground.
