The Denver Zine Library (DZL) began in 2003, when Jamez Terry and Kelly Shortandqueer moved to Denver with almost 2,000 zines. Collaboration with local zine collectors led to the DZL, first housed in a backyard shed, then arts and social centers before opening the current location within the Bob Ragland Branch of the Denver Public Library. DZL has over 20,000 zines and is open from 10-5 on Saturdays. Once a month, the DZL hosts a Zine Club where participants together create a new zine each month. DZL also presents the annual Denver Zine Fest, with the 2026 festival to be held Sunday, September 13th from 11-5 at the Central Branch of the Denver Public Library.
