Description

**The Heartwired team is excited this year to bring a two-part workshop series to the Colorado Health Symposium. We strongly recommend that you attend Part 1 on either Wed or Thu, before attending Part 2 on Fri.** 

This workshop will build on Heartwired Persuasive Messaging, Part 1 (offered on both Wed and Thu of the 2025 Colorado Health Symposium). Using our Heartwired understanding of how emotions, lived experiences, identities, values, and beliefs combine and collide to shape audiences’ support for emotionally complex social issues, we will walk through a real case study from Colorado showing how this knowledge can be put to use to help design more effective messaging for your issues. 

Together, we will take a deep dive into a multiyear audience research and messaging project from Colorado on how to create effective messaging and tell compelling stories in ways that increase support for key policy goals. We will show how gaining a deep understanding of conflicted – yet persuadable – Coloradans’ mindsets can be used to create messages and deliver stories that build trust, acknowledge and calm concerns, nurture compassion, and activate hope for persuadable audience members. 

Our time together will include hands-on application of lessons from the case study to your own issue area, as well as discussion and Q&A. You’ll leave with an understanding of what the process of creating Heartwired messaging can look like and achieve in practice, including for your own work. 

Key objectives for this workshop include:

  • Build on the Heartwired Persuasive Messaging, Part 1 workshop session by taking a deeper dive into how creating Heartwired messaging works in practice.
  • Explore a case study in Colorado to see how understanding audiences and using Heartwired messaging can be effective to help move the needle on our issues.
  • Practice applying audience insights and Heartwired messaging principles to reach persuadable audiences in your issue area.
